NCI Thesaurus | halofuginone hydrobromide

A quinazolinone alkaloid anticoccidial with potential antineoplastic activity. Halofuginone hydrobromide inhibits type I collagen synthesis and matrix metalloproteinase 2 (MMP-2) gene expression, which results in the suppression of angiogenesis, tumor stromal cell development, and tumor cell growth. These effects appear to due to an effect of halofuginone on the activity of the MMP-2 promoter.NCI Thesaurus | halofuginone hydrobromide
